Annual RAP Report and Refresh

Reconciliation Action Plans are living documents

All Reconciliation Action Plans include a commitment to publicly report and refresh annually. Tracking and reporting progress ensures that organisations and the community can recognise where achievements have been made, where challenges remain and what opportunities exist for future RAP development and implementation. We look forward to sharing learning across the Australian community and to understanding the collective impact of Reconciliation Action Plans on the life expectancy gap.

Reporting

Reporting is a simple process. We encourage you to report in a way that reflects your organisation and its journey. Download the RAP Reporting template.

Core elements of the report include:

  • A summary table of actions including progress made, lessons learnt and a ‘traffic light’ indication of whether you exceeded, achieved, did not achieve or are ‘on track’ to achieve a target (see page 17 of the RAP Toolkit)
  • An account of the ‘most significant changes’ that occurred in your organisation as a result of the RAP. Don’t be afraid to report against goals not achieved – some of our most valuable learning comes this way.

You might include:

  • Anecdotal evidence of changes that took place in your organisation with the implementation of the RAP;
  • Case studies of particular projects, achievements or personal stories impacted by the RAP;
  • A narrative account of your organisation’s learning journey;
  • Photographs or other illustrations (with captions);
  • Video and/or audio footage;
  • Media articles or clips that celebrate your RAP.

You can view existing RAP reports.

Refreshing Your RAP

Once you have reported on your RAP, you will need to refresh your plan for the year ahead. This is your opportunity to add new ideas and actions and refine targets and timelines.

Your refreshed RAP should be presented in the Reconciliation Action Plan template, including actions and targets under the areas of Respect, Relationships and Opportunities.

Before you start your report and refresh, we encourage you to contact one of Reconciliation Australia’s relationship managers via raps@reconciliation.org.au or on (02) 6273 9200. Refreshed RAPs and RAP reports will be assessed by Reconciliation Australia before registration on the Reconciliation Australia website. Approval can take up to three weeks and may include some re-drafting by organisations. Please account for this approval period in your planning.
